Chapter 997 Four Corners Area
Our Next Meeting
SPECIAL ALERT!!! Our next meeting will be on Saturday, 10/23 at 10:00 AM at Jess Beard’s hangar in Farmington. He will talk about "Before Duct Tape and Pop Rivets." As a clue, he has some very old tools and some sheet metal hobby products made of copper. He will also serve some snacks and drinks. If you haven’t been there, his hangar is on the extreme southwest corner of the Farmington Airport. If you drive, access is through the gate next to the Fire Station just past the terminal building. There will be provisions for entry into the gate. If you want to fly, be aware that Jess’ taxiway is gravel. It is a special treat to visit Jess’ place – hope to see you all there.
Our Last Meeting
Our last meeting was very special. We had a Young Eagles flight program and pancake breakfast at Del’s Hangar No. 3 on Saturday, 9/25. Nine pilots flew 21 youth from the local Big Sisters – Big Brothers organization. The 21 Young Eagles went for a ride, received an EAA Young Eagles Certificate and had breakfast. Everybody seemed to have a great time.
For background, last year EAA Members flew over one million Young Eagles. Chuck Yeager has been the Honorary Chair for several years; Harrison Ford is presently the Honorary Chair and has personally flown over 200 Young Eagles.
Here we are getting organized. Bob Winski ran a tight ship.

And here is the breakfast line.

There were technical difficulties with the official pictures of each of the Young Eagles. But here is a picture of a happy Chelsea Cooper after a ride in my Mooney.

No business was transacted.
