Chapter 997 Four Corners Area

Our Next Meeting

HEADS UP FOR ANOTHER SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!

Next Saturday, July 10 is our ANNUAL PIG ROAST! It will be at Animas Airpark in Del’s Hangar #3 at 2:30 PM. You should have already seen President Jim’s message, and this is intended to supplement it. Please call him at 259-5988 to volunteer your contribution to the menu. To help you select your contribution, the menu with name list from last year is attached. Also, please note that we also always need some muscle to move tables and chairs, etc., at the last minute, so you can help by arriving 15 to 30 minutes early. This event has always been fun and good food. Hope to see you all there!

Our Last Meeting

Our meeting on June 19 was a big success in spite of the complications. Approximately 40 people attended and enjoyed pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage links. Thanks to Harold Johnson, Bob Winski, Jim and Peggy Thornton, and all the others whose names I missed, for the fine feed. Cheyanne Ford brought her mother.

And the food line was busy.

The Nucla fly-in on July 3 was discussed. The only business on the agenda was approval of the minutes of the last meeting. The minutes of June 19 were approved as published. Rich Stewart won the drawing for the $5 attendance incentive award. Way to go Rich!

Jim also discussed the plan for the pig roast. He and Tony will start cooking about 7:00 AM on July 10 in order to serve about 2:30 PM, about like last year.

Del was conspicuously missing – Jim explained that he and Darla were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary with a flying trip around the northwest. Congratulations to you kids!

Philosophy of Politics (for Fun)

  1. "Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself." - Mark Twain
  2. "We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle." - Winston Churchill
  3. A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul." - George Bernard Shaw
  4. A liberal is someone who feels a great debt to his fellow man, which debt he proposes to pay off with your money." - G. Gordon Liddy
  5. Democracy must be something more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner." - James Bovard
  6. Foreign aid might be defined as a transfer from poor people in rich countries to rich people in poor countries." - Douglas Casey

THIS IS A REPRINT OF THE PLAN FOR THE PIG ROAST LAST YEAR

It is intended only as a list of suggestions of what you might want to volunteer to bring this year. Please contact Jim at 259-5988 soon.
